Mrs Calvert's Weekly Message

Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure I can inform you all that I have offered Miss Isobel Sebire a full-time teaching position in Year 1 from September 2021. Both Mrs Christine Clarke and Mrs Veronica Clark have decided to reduce their hours but they will continue their work in the Y1 team. I would never want to lose such capable staff as they have done such a splendid job over the years.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 25th May we are having whole school photographs which are a combination of an individual and whole class photograph. As this is an unusual time to be doing this please can all children come in their usual summer uniform. The photographs will be all taken inside in a relaxed fun setting.

This week promises to be exciting as we think about what life would have been like 100 years ago. This is to recognise the wonderful contribution the British Legion have made to this country. We are all busy designing a stamp for the Royal Mail Competition and have entered the British Legion’s raffle to win £20,000. Well, you never know!

Children should be coming into school on Friday 28th May dressed as if they were around 100 years ago. This could be either as a child in school, as a soldier or a lady in the 1920. Children will be dancing the Charleston and sharing a special high tea during the day. This should be a special ending to this term. The food we prepare will meet all the children's dietary needs but if you are unhappy that your child has this tea, please let the office know.

Our school closes on Friday 28th May at 2.00pm and opens again with the same organisational arrangements on Monday 7th June.

Please remember that the booster classes are stopping after Wednesday 26th May and will not be continuing after half term.

Please note on Friday Squirrel Club will not be running as we finish at 2pm.

On a final note, quite a few parents are emailing their teachers regarding absences, holiday requests or changes regarding pick up and drop off. Please remember this information should be going to the office at office@braywoodfirstschool.co.uk as this is our role. From September we will revert back to our original arrangement where parents are unable to contact the teacher directly without going through the office as this prevents mistakes in communication.

Have a lovely half term and enjoy the warm weather we have been promised.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
