How can your child be allocated a place at Braywood?
One of the best ways to help prospective parents choose a school is to come and visit when the school is in operation. We hold regular open mornings for any parents who wish to come and look around. We provide a tour led by our Year 4 children and then a talk by the Headteacher.
All parents are allocated a place in our school through the RBWM Admissions Procedures. We are not part of this process and places are allocated in accordance with LEA criteria. This applies if at the start of a child's education or to families who are looking to change schools mid-year.

Below are links to both application procedures on the borough's website to obtain a Primary School Common Application Form or an in-year transfer form. To apply for a place at Braywood you do not need to have Section 3 completed (applying on religious grounds) unless it is very relevant to your circumstances.
If a child is refused admission parents have the right to appeal to the Chief Educational Office.
Parents will be officially informed by the LEA if there is a place at Braywood during the term before they start school. The school will confirm the place in writing and will invite all prospective parents and their children to an induction programme for starting school.

When you are offered a place at Braywood you will be sent a letter from the Local Educational Authority and then from the school. You will be invited to three induction sessions at Braywood so that your child has the opportunity to familiarise themselves with our school. The first will be a short session usually in the afternoon. The second will involve having a lunch at school (either a packed lunch or a cooked lunch) and the final session will be a little longer and usually in a morning. On the final session there will be a welcome session with the Headteacher, class teacher and other representatives from the school's organisations. This will give you a perfect chance to ask any questions.
What is the Admissions Criteria?
The criteria for maintained schools are, in descending order:
- Children in care. This category includes a ‘looked after child’ or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements or special guardianship order
- Children with exceptional medical or social reasons for requiring the school (reasons can apply to the child or another family member)
- Junior schools only – children attending a linked infant school
- Children who live in the ‘designated appropriate area’ of the school and who have a sibling in attendance at the school at the time of the application and who is expected still to be attending the school at the time of entry
- Children who live in the ‘designated appropriate area’ of the school
- Children with a sibling in attendance at the school. The sibling would need to be attending the school at the time of admission of the child for whom a place is sought
- Children of a staff member (see note below)
- Voluntary controlled schools only - Children whose parents choose the school on denominational grounds (completed SIF required)
- Children whose parents have any other reason for their preference.
Note to cat 7: Priority will be given where the member of staff has a) been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
