Dear Parents

A big thank you to our retiring PTA under the leadership of Sally Hackett. Their contribution towards our school has been brilliant and will mean that the climbing wall and playground marking will be able to go ahead in the spring. Congratulations to Amandeep Uppal (our new PTA chair) and to Sarah Hubbard (our new PTA deputy chair). We are hugely grateful that they have volunteered for these roles, but we are still looking for a secretary. Please do consider volunteering your time to this worthy cause.

Thank you to all the parents who were involved in the Year 1 sale for books and the school's Just Giving page. We raised an amazing £640 and £1,635 respectively. A large amount of this money will go on the purchase of books.

As Christmas edges closer below are details of the Christmas Concert.

Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th December from 2.30pm for Foundation and Year 1.

Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th December from 2.30pm for Year 2,3 and 4.

Each family can have two places for each concert. Please email in your choice to avoid having too many people in school. On the days that the younger children are performing their concert, the school will be dismissed as usual. On the days that the older children are performing their concert, the younger children will be dismissed from the Church House entrance only. There will be mulled wine, coffee/tea and warm mince pies alongside a few Christmas stalls to help kindle the festive spirit. We are hoping for good weather, but it will be cold so do dress your children in warm clothes, hats, scarves, coats, and boots. If it rains, we will unfortunately have to cancel.

Traditionally, we expect all children to participate in our Christmas lunch on Wednesday 15th December. There is a menu attached. Children do enjoy this meal, but if you are worried send in a snack which can be accessed after the meal. After the lunch there will a pantomime performance and every child will be bringing home a Christmas treat at the end of the school day. Dressing up for the emergency services has been postponed until Wednesday 15th December when we have Christmas Jumper Day. If you would like to contribute you would need to bring in some money on this day.

School finishes on Friday 17th December between 1.30-2pm so that we can stagger the number of people on site.

Next term,Year 3 are learning to play the ukulele. Berkshire Maestros are offering free trial lessons to children to see if they like playing an instrument such as the violin. Teachers will come into Braywood to give a free session so would be great to get as many children as possible involved. They can learn violin from Year 1 upward.

Please don't forget to bring in your child's wellington boots so that they can go onto the field at lunchtimes.

Please note we are not asking for any more second hard uniform for the foreseeable future.

Please find attached information about the After School Clubs we will be running next term.  Registration details will be sent/emailed to you after the Christmas break.

Covid catch-up - please see attached letter. The  current guidance on contact tracing and isolation remains in place. In addition to these, any suspected or confirmed close contacts of the Omicron variant will be asked to isolate for 10 days regardless of vaccination status or age. You will be contacted directly and told to isolate. All eligible staff and students aged 12 and over are encouraged to take up the offer of the vaccine, including boosters. Vaccines are our best defence against COVID-19. They help protect young people and adults, and benefit those around them. Vaccination makes people less likely to catch the virus and less likely to pass it on.

To book a vaccination, please visit: Book or manage a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination – NHS (www.nhs.uk).

Finally, if any parents are having a clear out of reading books suitable for ages 5-9 year-old, we are looking to refresh the classroom's reading corners. Please bring your contributions into school.

Any questions do please contact the office.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
