Dear parents,

I am sure that you all had a lovely holiday; I think that we all deserved a good break.

The curriculum has not altered, and children will continue to enjoy their classroom activities and perform well. The school's organisation has not changed, and our clubs and extended curriculum remain unaltered. Well done to Year 2 where the vast majority of the children attained the Year 1 Phonics screening test with flying colours!

As we have been asked to proceed with caution throughout January due to this new variant, we have implemented a few additional measures that were in place earlier in this pandemic. These include encouraging the children stay in their personal bubbles, the tables are now all facing forward, and the staff are wearing masks or visor. All classrooms are well ventilated, clean and have a C02 monitor. We do not expect these measures to last beyond half term.

Below is a reminder of the new changes to the Government recommendations. It is important that your child attends school.

All adults who are fully vaccinated and children aged 5 to18 years and 6 months, identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19 – whether Omicron or not – should take an LFD test every day for 7 days instead of self-isolating. If they test negative, then can continue to attend their educational setting. If they test positive, then they will need to take a PCR test to confirm that they have Covid 19. There is a 10-day isolation period, which can be released earlier from isolation with two negative LFT on day 6 and 7. If the individual has no symptoms, then they can return to school.

Pupils should be encouraged to continue regular twice weekly testing and we would be very grateful if you could test your child before they come back to school tomorrow.

We have reduced numbers in the office due to Covid so if you can send an email into school instead of calling that would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
