At Braywood, PSHE is taught as a whole-school approach to underpin our children’s development as young citizens. Our curriculum supports the development of the whole child by helping them to understand their individual strengths and how they are developing personally and socially and so develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. Our programme of learning will teach children how to keep themselves safe, physically and emotionally and well-equipped for the outside world. We provide our children opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities and global injustice and to appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.
EYFS - In the Foundation Stage, PSHE is embedded throughout our curriculum. The children are taught through adult modelling, an enabling environment and discrete lessons. The children work towards three Early Learning Goals for PSED as part of the EYFS Framework.
All our pupils are taught using 'Kapow' which is a spiral, progressive scheme of work. In addition, brain breaks are used several times during the day to enable children to calmly focus beofre working in order to help prepare their mindset for working.
We also teach the British Values each term and SMSC is taught in order to reflect the overall aims, values and ethos of the school.
