Swan Upping at Oakley Court

The star of hit TV shows like Men Behaving Badly and Doc Martin was besieged by fans when the boats containing the men who count, weigh and check the health of the swans of the Thames stopped off at Oakley Court Hotel.

His involvement with the Swan Upping was captured by an ITV film crew making a documentary series called Man and Beast, showing man's involvement with birds and animals all over the world and featuring Martin.

He said: "We have been to Nepal and Japan and are going to Thailand next.

"The Swan Upping has been a highlight though. Those birds are beautiful to behold. I would do it again if I was asked."

Martin delighted children from Braywood First School by presenting a certificate from the Queen thanking them for their involvement.

It was proudly accepted by pupil Poppy Malton, aged eight.
